The Institute of Sathya Sai Education (San Pedro) is a Regional ISSE, covering Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore. It was inaugurated on December 14, 2000. The directors of the Institute are Dr.
V.K.Ravindran and Dr. Rosario G. Acierto.
Aims of the Institute
- To propagate the ideals of Sathya Sai Education in primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, in Philippines and within the Region
- To promote academic and human excellence, good character and all round development of the child.
- To engage in research on techniques, methodology and course content for teaching children, and produce materials and text books that can be adopted in the Philippines and elsewhere.
- Establish and manage Sathya Sai Schools to further promote human values education.
Certificate Courses
At present the Institute offers a Basic Certificate Course that last for four weeks. Students study the theory of Sathya Sai Education in Human Values in depth and learn to put it into practice. After completing the course, they will become qualified teachers and trainers of SSEHV. Students will also learn how to set up and manage a Sathya Sai School and to adopt existing schools.
The contents for the Diploma Course include lectures and discussions on the following subjects:
- Sathya Sai Education in Human Values
- Teaching Methodologies
- Child Psychology
- Children’s Moral Development
- Character Development
- Education and Management
- Guidelines for Setting up and Managing a Sathya Sai School
- Presentation Skills
- Research in Education
- Spiritual Practices
Apart from these lectures, the Institute invites guest speakers to come and present some topical issues related to values education.
Facilities for students
ISSE arranges for board and lodging for all the students and provides vegetarian food.
Institute Office
The Institute Office is an air-conditioned room where the certificate students may study or plan lesions. It has a computer and a library of EHV books.
Other work of the Institute
- The Institute arranges seminars, workshops and lectures for teachers on Sathya Sai Education or Sathya Sai Educare.
- A special arrangement is being made with Notre Dame University, Mindana to offer MA Courses on Education, starting from June 2002. These courses will include components on Sathya Sai Education or Educare.
- There are plans to conduct intensive teacher training workshops in the Southern Philippines.
